I created Gateway Acupuncture & Wellness to offer our community access to the profound knowledge of Classical Chinese Medicine and to promote a more fulfilled life.

As a gay immigrant from Venezuela with a strong foundation in science and nearly a decade of experience as a strength coach, I possess a deep appreciation for the human body and its capacity for resilience. Health is not just something I practice; it is who I am. From a young age, I was captivated by biology, often finding myself glued to documentaries on the immune system, even during sick days. This early fascination with the intricate workings of the body naturally led me down the path of health and science.

After attending an engineering-focused high school, I earned an academic scholarship to the University of Florida, where I explored several majors before ultimately graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. Despite my scientific interests, I often felt that modern science, while fascinating, lacked the sense of wonder and connection that had initially drawn me in. My brief experience with Western medicine only reinforced this feeling, as its one-size-fits-all approach left me searching for something deeper.

When I discovered Classical Chinese Medicine, it felt like a homecoming. This ancient system of healing does not seek to separate itself from nature but rather to immerse itself within it. The Daoist principles at its core teach that true health arises from living in harmony with our environment. Classical Chinese Medicine views the body as a reflection of the natural world, recognizing that the patterns and cycles within us mirror those found in nature.
